Data Scientist
Keep our energy data reliable from meter to invoice — tracing problems to their root cause across Operations, Data and Development, and turning what you find into insights customers can act on.
About iqbi
iqbi automates the collection of utility data — electricity, gas, water, heating and solar — for real estate portfolios across Europe. We help investors, developers and property managers meet their ESG and CSRD obligations with real-time, audit-proof data. Our team combines deep utility data knowledge with technical expertise, and is growing fast, with offices in Utrecht and Berlin.
Your role as Data Scientist
Do you want to keep iqbi's energy data reliable from meter to invoice, and turn what you find into insights our customers can use? Are you the kind of person who does not stop until a data problem is understood at the root, not just patched? Then we are looking for you as our new Data Scientist!
Who are you?
You are the kind of person who traces a problem back to its root cause instead of patching the symptom, and you feel at home in a scale-up where sustainability, technology and client focus come together.
- Analytical and precise, able to independently trace a problem back to its root cause
- Quick to master new systems, data sources and domain knowledge
- Working at an advanced level with AI tools, applied actively for analysis, automation and problem solving
- Able to explain technical topics clearly to colleagues and customers without a technical background
- Recognizing inefficiencies and taking initiative to improve processes
- Experience with SQL, Python or cloud data stacks such as BigQuery, Airflow, Dataform and Postgres is a plus
What will you do?
As Data Scientist, you work at the intersection of Operations, Data and Development, and know how to translate questions between these disciplines. You work independently to trace problems to their root cause, and you document your findings, choices and solutions clearly in tickets and documentation, always with an eye on preventing repeat problems and making the underlying process structurally better.
- Monitoring the daily data chain and tracing missing, incorrect or wrongly linked data back to its source, for example meter swaps, migrations or changed meter point links, and fixing it structurally
- Building and maintaining calculation models, cost allocation keys and settlements for shared installations for electricity, gas, heat and water, and validating outcomes against supplier data and other available sources
- Supporting Operations with data and implementation questions, and guiding the technical and administrative setup of new customers and locations, from registering meters to confirming a correct go live
- Connecting new suppliers, metering companies and data sources to our platform, from API integration to validation, and guiding migrations without loss, gaps or duplication of historical data
- Turning structured, granular consumption data into insights clients can act on
- Spotting recurring problems and manual work, and automating and improving processes using AI tools and other tooling, for both internal and external stakeholders
What do we offer?
- A role with real ownership of the data quality and insights you deliver
- The chance to deepen your knowledge of energy data and the energy market
- Room to grow your SQL and Python skills to a professional level within a modern cloud data stack
- The opportunity to independently design and improve scalable data and operational processes
- Travel allowance
- An informal, direct working environment where your ideas and input carry weight
